Sunshine Child Development Center

Sunshine Child Development Center was founded in 1989 by Kim Maine, current owner and director of the program.
We were originally created to meet the early care and education needs of the employees of the several companies in the Quonset Business Park. Within ten years, we outgrew our facility and constructed a larger state of the art center. This center allowed us to create a design to meet the children’s needs and offer optimal educational experiences for children.
Our owner and Director also grew professionally. She earned a Masters of Education from Johnson & Wales University with a focus on Early Childhood Education Leadership and Administration. She is very involved in advocacy efforts on behalf of young children as well as an Adjunct Instructor at the Community College of Rhode Island. Her passion for early childhood education resonates to the staff, children and families in the program.
We believe that every child is unique and has their own way of learning and growing. We provide a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters their creativity, curiosity, and imagination. Our program is designed to help children develop social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills through play-based activities and interactive learning experiences. Our goal is to help every child reach their full potential and prepare them for a successful future.

The sun does indeed shine bright at Sunshine Child Development Center! Thank you for your interest in our program. We are a proud high-quality rated Bright Star program offering early care and education services for children six weeks to five years old as well as an out-of-school program for children attending the North Kingstown school district. As a high-quality program, our lead teachers meet high-quality educational qualifications in early childhood education.
